Harriet Schock
Multiple Platimum and Gold songwriter Harriet Schock is at once a songwriter and performer of remarkable insight, feeling and talent and teacher with an acclaimed songwriting method. Her songs have been recorded by numerous well-known artists (including Helen Reddy and Smokey Robinson) and have appeared in several films. She is recipient of several awards of recognition including two Cashbox awards for Best New Female Artist. Her "Ain't No Way to Treat a Lady" was nominated for a Grammy. Harriet has released six albums of original material, her most recent being the live "From Fairfax to Pasadena." Her lyrics are intelligent, visual and heartfelt. Whethr in concert or on record, she will make you laugh, chuckle and smile at your own personal recognitions. In addition, she is also a teacher of uncommon ability and is the only songwriting teacher I have ever encountered that has an actual step-by-step method to take one from concept to finished song in an orderly fashion. And once you learn it, you can use it over and over again. I have read many of the songwriting books on the market over the years and none of them really foster the artistic certainty that her curriculum does. Never mind that she quotes me on her web page or cites my lyrics in her book ("Becoming Remarkable," but more on that in another article). I am posting this information about her as a sort of "return the favor" for the all the ways she has assisted my creative process.
